The Suzuki Kizashi is the first in the mid -positioned car model of the Japanese automobile manufacturer Suzuki . In India the car is sold as Maruti Kizashi . The model has been available as a four-door notchback in the USA since the end of 2009 . The official presentation of the Kizashi was previously in the summer of 2009 at a Suzuki presentation in California.
The European market launch took place in early 2010, while that in Germany took place in September 2010. Indirectly, the Chevrolet Evanda, offered in the USA as Suzuki Verona , can be seen as the predecessor of the Kizashi .
The Kizashi - the name means omen in Japanese - is the manufacturer's top model, whose range previously only consisted of smaller vehicles on the one hand and off-road vehicles on the other.
The production version was preceded by a total of three different concept vehicles , of which the first two in particular have little more in common with the production vehicle than their name. It was not until the third study, presented at the New York auto show in early 2008, that it was a notchback sedan, which, however, was designed significantly differently.
The Kizashi is available in two versions, the normal version 2.4 4x2 MT with front-wheel drive and manual transmission and the 2.4 4x4 CVT with an all-wheel drive derived from the Suzuki SX4 and a continuously variable transmission . Both versions are equipped with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder petrol engine with an output of 131 kW (178 hp).
The only special equipment of the car, which costs € 26,900 in the basic version, apart from the optional drive, is a metallic paintwork. All other features including a glass sliding roof or heated seats are standard.
The sale of the Kizashi in Germany was stopped in July 2015.
