The Suzuki Wagon R + is a three-generation microvan from the Japanese automobile and motorcycle manufacturer Suzuki . It is slightly wider than the Suzuki Wagon R on which it is based, but which is already being offered in its own series in the fifth generation in Japan.
In Europe, the Wagon R + was offered from autumn 1997 to March 2006. In 2000 there was a model change. Since General Motors cooperates with Suzuki, an identical vehicle has been offered by Opel as the Opel Agila since 2000 (but with its own engines). With the model change, the body was redesigned and a little more spacious. A revised version came onto the market in September 2003, and a diesel engine was also available from this point in time .
Model history
The Wagon R + was initially built and approved as a four-seater (rear seat split in the middle). Later, the rear seat and the belt system were modified during a revision (asymmetrical division, three three-point belts at the rear) and the vehicle was approved for five people. From model year 2001, all Wagon R + have four airbags (driver, front passenger and two side airbags in the backrests of the front seats).
The Japanese version of the model was originally called Wagon R . The “+” was only added to the export models, which should stand for improved performance and larger dimensions, and in particular the width was increased. The vehicles for the European market were manufactured in Hungary ( Magyar Suzuki , Esztergom).
In the first generation there were two petrol engines: one with a displacement of 1.0 l and 48 kW (65 PS) and one with 1.2 l and 51 kW (69 PS), which was available with or without all-wheel drive. The second generation (new, larger body) had a 1.0-l engine with 48 kW (65 hp) and a 1.3-l engine with 56 kW (76 hp) (with or without all-wheel drive). Since the 2003 revision, the vehicles have been available with a petrol engine with 1.4 l displacement and 69 kW (94 PS) with or without all-wheel drive and with a diesel engine with 51 kW (69 PS), both of which are low in emissions according to Euro 4 .
According to the manufacturer, the consumption of the gasoline engine was 6.3 liters per 100 km in the third mix (corresponds to carbon dioxide emissions of 150 g / km), the diesel engine was given as 4.9 liters per 100 km.
The production of the Suzuki Wagon R + was stopped in March 2006. The successor Splash was presented at the IAA 2007 and is also manufactured in Hungary. Since September 25, 2008, Suzuki has been selling the actual successor to the Wagon R under the same name exclusively in Japan.
