The Suzuki Equator is a pickup truck based on the Nissan Frontier and manufactured by Nissan . The model was first introduced in 2008 at the Chicago Auto Show and sold in the USA from the 2009 model year.
The Equator was offered with a single or double cabin, with the former offering four and the latter offering five seats. In Canada, the model was only offered with a double cab and one trim level.
The basic models with a single cabin were powered by an in-line four-cylinder engine. A V6 was optionally available for this, which was also installed in all models with a double cab. Both engines were from Nissan .
The entry-level engine with a displacement of 2.5 liters developed 112 kW at 5200 rpm and 171 Nm at 4400 rpm. The power was transmitted to the rear wheels by a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed automatic.
The six-cylinder engine with a displacement of 4.0 liters produced 192 kW at 5600 rpm and 281 Nm at 4000 rpm. It was always coupled with all-wheel drive and a 5-speed automatic.
When Suzuki withdrew from the North American market, production of the Equator was also discontinued in 2012.
