The Suzuki Liana (in the United States , China and Pakistan as Suzuki Aerio ) is a car model of the Japanese car manufacturer Suzuki , which was sold worldwide from 2001 to 2007 , and is available in both a hatchback and a notchback version. However, the model is only produced and offered in China and Pakistan.
The name Liana is an abbreviation for L ife I n A N ew A ge. With the introduction of a 16 cm higher Liana stepped rear end at the beginning of 2002, sales of the previous Baleno model were discontinued. At the start of production there was the Liana in Europe with a 1.3-l petrol engine with 66 kW and a 1.6-l version with 76 kW.
As part of a model upgrade in autumn 2004, a 1.4-liter diesel engine with 66 kW was also available for the Liana .
After the notchback variant was taken out of the program, the hatchback model with 1.6-liter engine with 79 kW remained the only model available in Europe. At the end of 2007, the import of the hatchback was also discontinued.
The model became known through regular appearances in the British automobile show Top Gear , in which a celebrity was sent out on the circuit with a liana to compete with other celebrities.
