The Suzuki Celerio is a passenger car model from the Japanese car manufacturer Suzuki , which was designed as a world car for both emerging countries and the European market. The five-door hatchback sedan is assigned to the subcompact class. In some countries, for example the Philippines, the Suzuki Alto model is also marketed under the name Suzuki Celerio.

Surname

The parts of the name "Cele" and "rio" are borrowed from Spanish and together mean something like "heavenly river".

The Celerio in India

Rear view

The Celerio planned for India is produced by Maruti-Suzuki in Manesar, India. It was presented at the Auto Expo 2014 in New Delhi. The concept car A: Wind, which was shown at the Thailand International Motor Expo in November 2013, can be seen as a preliminary stage .

Initially, only a 1.0-liter three-cylinder and a variant with natural gas drive are available. The safety equipment is limited to ABS and two front airbags. As a special feature in this class, the Celerio is offered with an automatic transmission.

The Celerio in Germany

The Celerio, which is intended for Europe, is produced in Thailand. It was first presented in March 2014 at the Geneva Motor Show and has been available in Germany since November 2014. It differs from the Indian Celerio in the safety equipment required in Europe (up to six airbags, ESP, tire pressure monitoring system). Initially, only a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine with 50 kW is available. In the more expensive Eco + variant, an intake manifold injection with two nozzles per cylinder ("dual jet") and a start-stop system are standard, which, together with a body that is 10 mm lower, reduces the standard consumption to 3.6 l / 100 km. As with the Celerio in India, an automatic transmission is also available.

Equipment variants

There are three equipment options:

  • basic
  • Club: with air conditioning and CD radio as standard
  • Comfort: in addition to Club with fog lights and aluminum wheels, among other things

Technical specifications

The engine is installed transversely at the front and drives the front wheels via a long-geared five-speed gearbox. The wheels on the front axle are individually suspended ( MacPherson struts with wishbones), and a torsion beam axle with coil springs is installed at the rear . The brakes are internally ventilated disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear . The steering is electrically assisted with a pinion and rack.
