GM Uzbekistan ( Uzbek : JM O'zbekiston , Russian : Джи Эм Узбекистан Chih Em Uzbekistan ) is a joint venture of Uzbek UzAvtosanoat with the US - American General Motors for automotive manufacturing .
history
After merging with Daewoo Motor , Chevrolet found out about the Uzbek automobile manufacturer and, after several years of negotiations, was able to negotiate another agreement in 2007, from which GM Uzbekistan emerged.
GM Uzbekistan started production on November 27, 2008. The first vehicle that rolled off the line that day was a Chevrolet Lacetti , which was also the 1,000,000 vehicle produced by UzAvtosanoat. The annual production is 250,000 units. Since the beginning of the third quarter, the Chevrolet Spark M300 has also been rolling off the assembly line in Asaka , which is currently only intended for export. So far, the Chevrolet models are assembled CKD - kits . But GM Uzbekistan plans to manufacture at least 50 percent of all vehicle parts in-house in the near future. For example, the newly founded company GM Powertrain Uzbekistan plans to manufacture its own engines . But also the door panels , seats and the dashboards will soon be manufactured in the factory. A plant has already opened in which more than 200,000 front, rear and side windows are produced annually for the Uz-DaewooAvto and the Chevrolet Lacetti models. There are currently around 5,000 employees at GM Uzbekistan.
Since October 8, 2015, vehicles have been sold in Russia under the brand name Ravon .
