Uz-DaewooAvto

Uz-DaewooAvto (also UzDaewooAvto , Russian : Уз-ДаевооАвто ) was a joint venture agreed in 1992 between the Uzbek UzAvtosanoat and the South Korean Daewoo Motor for the production of automobiles . The company operated in Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation under the brand name Uz-Daewoo . But the brand also gained increasing importance in the other republics of the CIS . The manufacturer's plant was located in Asaka . Production finally began there on July 19, 1996. The initiative to found the Uzbek automotive industry goes back to President Islom Abdugʻaniyevich Karimov . Uz-Daewoo produced 140,000 units annually.

Production ended in 2008 when GM Uzbekistan took over the company.
