The Toyota Quantum is a minibus produced by the Japanese automobile brand Toyota . This was developed by Toyota South Africa and is based on the technical plans of the Toyota Hiace . The model was introduced in South Africa in 2002 and was very popular with travel companies there for a short time. With the introduction of the newer Ses'fikile , the Quantum had to vacate 1st place among the best-selling vans in South Africa and fell back to fourth place.
In contrast to its new brother, the Quantum is also available as a 10-seater and panel van. In addition, like the Ses'fikile, it is available as a 14-seater, of which only ten seats are permanently installed, which are supplemented by four emergency seats. For this, the Quantum offers a large trunk, which makes it possible to transport large amounts of luggage. The curb weight of the wagons is given as 1665–1930 kg.
The standard equipment of the Quantum immobilizer, ToyotaCare Microdot system, air conditioning, central locking, brake assist , anti-lock braking system , seat belts, driver and front passenger airbags, radio with CD player and darkened side windows in the passenger compartment.
There are two motors to choose from to motorize the Quantum. On the one hand there is a 2TR-FE gasoline engine with a displacement of 2.7 liters and an output of 111 kW. And second, there is a 2.5 liter engine with D-4D technology. This offers an output of 89 kW.
New car prices for the Quantum start at R 437,000 and end at R 467,000.
