Dario Terios was a car model of the Japanese automobile brand Toyota for the market of the People's Republic of China , which was sold without a manufacturer name. The only clue is the company emblem on the grille.

The Dario Terios was launched on the Chinese market in March to replace the technically outdated Unser . Due to the more compact design and the more modern lines, the model should be able to be brought to customers, especially in the big cities. The target group were mainly young people. Toyota wanted to make the Dario Terios a success with a large-scale advertising campaign. However, due to a low production capacity (maximum 15,000 units / year), the model was an economic failure. Customers switched to models from other brands. But despite this loss, Toyota did not expand or modernize its plant. In 2006 the production of the Dario Terios finally ended.

The Dario Terios was only available with a 1298 cc 4-cylinder gasoline engine with an output of 66 kW / 90 PS.

The Dario Terios was also made in Japan. 7,000 copies of the model roll off the production line every year. Although a more powerful engine with 84 kW / 112 PS was available here, the car flopped here too. The Dario Terios was finally dropped from the official model range of Japan in 2003. Since the model was also produced here until 2006, most of the models were exported to Malaysia. Few vehicles remained in Japan. The sister models Toyota Cami , Daihatsu Terios and Daihatsu Terios Kid enjoyed greater interest in the domestic market. A successor model was therefore excluded from the outset.
