The Toyota Corolla Verso (also called Supashio Spacio) is a compact van that Toyota manufactured from early 1997 to spring 2009. The name "Supashio" is the feeling of space, derived from the Italian "Spazio". The second generation of the Spacio was offered as Corolla Verso in Europe.

From spring 2004 to spring 2009, the Corolla Verso for Europe was produced by the Toyota plant in Turkey, while production of the Spacio in Japan ended in mid-2007.

Since spring 2009 the Toyota Verso has replaced the Corolla Verso / Spacio and the Toyota Avensis Verso .

A new model was presented in May 2001, which was also sold in Europe as the Corolla Verso from the end of 2001 . The most striking change to the predecessor was the interior concept, which now features seven seats and three rows of seats. The petrol engines also offered in Europe served as the drive. However, there was the Spacio in Japan as standard with a four-speed automatic transmission and optional all-wheel drive.

While the Corolla Verso received a comprehensive facelift in spring 2004, the Spacio was slightly revised in September 2005 with modified headlights and a slight interior redesign. However, this version did not completely correspond to the model in Europe.

Production of the Spacio in Japan ended in June 2007. The position of the smaller versions was taken over by the Sienta , while the larger ones were replaced by the Avensis Verso .

As in Europe, the Toyota Verso has been available since April 2009 .

In April 2004 a new Corolla Verso came on the market. From then on, the models destined for Europe rolled off the assembly line at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkey .

Although there have been changes both technically and optically, it was only a heavily modified version of the predecessor.

A new 2.2 liter diesel engine was also available from autumn 2005. With 130 kW (177 hp), the unit was the most powerful diesel engine in a compact van at the time. With regard to emission control, Toyota equipped the vehicle with its own D-CAT technology, which included a storage catalytic converter.

A small facelift was carried out in the summer of 2007 . The Corolla Verso got a visually revised - now based on the Auris - radiator grille, new bumpers and a changed layout of the rear lights. No changes were made to the engines.

Production of the compact van ended in March 2009. It was replaced by the Toyota Verso .
