The Toyota Classic is a limited special edition that Toyota only produced in 1996. It was similar to the Toyota AA and had the rear-wheel drive chassis of the Toyota Hilux (GA-YN86) and an engine (3Y-E) with 2.0 l displacement, 71 kW (96 PS) and a torque of 160 Nm. The interior was based on a contemporary Toyota model, but was adapted to the exterior of the car by incorporating wood applications and leather seats. Toyota sold 100 units of this model for around US $ 75,000.

The Classic followed a boom in retro vehicles and was built for the 60th anniversary of the Toyota AA. The Toyota Origin , launched in 2000, was a corresponding model based on the first Toyota Crown .
