Lists on the subject |
The Type 93 landmine was a Japanese anti-personnel mine from World War II .
During the fighting in the Pacific , this mine was used extensively by the Japanese armed forces.
Model 93 was introduced to the Japanese Army in 1933 and was first used in the war against China . It weighed 1.36 kg, was 171 mm in diameter and 44 mm high. The explosive charge weighed 910 g and was arranged around a cavity. The igniter was inserted into this cavity. A reinforcement kit made of powdered picric acid was placed around this hole . The charge and picric acid were wrapped in a paper envelope. The detonator was made of brass. A compression spring exerted pressure on the ignition charge, which caused the actual explosive device to explode. The pressure had to be between 3.175 kg and 90.72 kg for the detonator to react. Lighter or heavier objects did not make the detonator react.
