Metro station May 1

The underground station on May 1st is a station of Line M4 of the Bucharest Metro . It is located in the north of Bucharest below the Piața Clăbucet at the intersection of the main roads Calea Griviței and Bulevardul Ion Mihalache. The station was inaugurated on March 1, 2000 when the M4 line opened. It served until the opening of the extension of the M4 line to Parc Bazilescu on July 1, 2011 as the northern terminus of the line.

The name of the subway station recalls the earlier name of Bulevardul Ion Mihalache - Bulevardul May 1. The designation was received ambiguously in public. On the one hand, the term May Day is usually associated with the May Day market, which takes place at a distance of three kilometers from the subway station. On the other hand, another street in the west of Bucharest was also named after May 1st.

Structurally, the station follows the other two stations that were opened at the same time on the M4 Grivița and Gara de Nord II lines .
