The United States Anti-Doping Agency , also abbreviated USADA , is a non-governmental agency based in Colorado Springs that aims to enforce compliance with the World Anti-Doping Agency's anti-doping code in the United States .

history

The United States Anti-Doping Agency began operating on October 1, 2000. It is based on a federal grant and contracts with the United States Olympic Committee and various other organizations. The anti-doping program of the National Olympic Committee of the United States had little international credibility for various reasons, so the committee gave its powers to the new agency. She took over the tests for doping , the judgment of doping sinners as well as the development of guidelines.

In 2003 the independence of the United States Anti-Doping Agency was further strengthened. By then, two of the nine members of the Agency's board of directors were elected by the Athlete Advisory Council and two by the National Governing Body . Since 2003, the United States Anti-Doping Agency has been able to choose from proposals from both organizations.
