USS Cormorant

The USS Cormorant (MHC-57) is an Osprey- class anti-mine ship of the United States Navy .

On June 4, 1993, the keel was laid and commissioned on April 12, 1997. From January 11, 1998, the ship belonged to the Naval Reserve Force and was used for the training of reservists. On December 1, 2007, the ship was decommissioned as one of the last four in its class. In September 2010 the Senate approved the sale of the Cormorant together with the Kingfisher to the Indian Navy.

The USS Cormorant (MHC-57) is the third ship with this name:

The first USS Cormorant (AM-40, later ATO-133) was in service from 1919 to 1946 and was used in mine clearance in the North Sea during World War II .

The second USS Cormorant (AMS-122) was in service from 1953 to 1970.
