Die Box - Germany's magazine for the gay community ( spelling : BOX) is a monthly magazine that was founded in 1993 by Michael Zgonjanin and Jochen Saurenbach. Since then, Box has appeared every month at the beginning of the month. Box is now one of the largest nationwide free magazines for gay men. Unlike other gay magazines, Box is aimed at gays of all ages, not just young gays. One focus of the reporting is the German and international leather, fetish and bear community .

Box appears nationwide with a monthly print run of up to 40,000 copies. It is currently available in over 700 selected locations in the German scene, such as AIDS- aid facilities, bars, saunas and shops.

The magazine contains the categories Current , News , Faith & Church , Books , Music , Cinema , TV / Film , Leather & Fetish , Bears and Classifieds . The BDSM sex worker dominus.berlin has published a monthly column on BDSM topics since 2016.

Jochen Saurenbach was editor of the magazine from 1993 to 2012. From summer 2012 Martin Kraft and Jürgen Rentzel were responsible for the editorial content. Jürgen Rentzel has been the publisher of BOX magazine since March 2014.

The founders of the magazine Michael Zgonjanin and Jochen Saurenbach are long-time activists of the gay movement (since the beginning of the 1970s) and founders or co-founders of many groups (including gay social democrats, AIDS-Hilfe Cologne, Bartmann Cologne, CSD Cologne).

In 2014 the newspaper was taken over by the publisher BOX Magazin UG and is published by them as BOX Magazin. Volkmar Schero is the managing director.
