The USS Kingfisher (MHC-56) is a ship of the US Navy the Osprey class . The ship was laid down on February 12, 1993 and put into service on October 26, 1996. Since July 1, 1997, the ship belonged to the Naval Reserve Force and was used for the training of reservists . On December 1, 2007, the ship was decommissioned as one of the last four in its class. In September 2010 the Senate approved the sale of the Kingfisher together with the Cormorant to the Indian Navy.
