Scheme double system on the right

Ubby 2 is a passage grave ( Danish Jættestue ) of the Funnel Beaker Culture (TBK -.. 3500-2800 BC) on Dyssevej, near Ugerløse, west of Ubby , on the Danish island of Zealand .

The passage grave is an assembled double system ( Danish : Dobbelt or Tvillingejættestue ). Some Danish and a few Swedish passage graves were built as double systems by assembling the two chambers on the narrow sides. Double-passage graves can be found in 57 examples on Zealand. Their share in the total number of determinable plants is around 10%.

Ubby 2 has two adjacent chambers. The south chamber has a corridor to the southeast, the north chamber to the northeast. Both chambers have collapsed and the capstones are in the chambers. The chambers are in thicket and tall nettles. The vegetation makes an overview difficult.

Six bearing stones and three fallen cap stones were counted in the south chamber. Eight bearing stones were found in the corridor, but no remaining cap stones.

In the north chamber nine bearing stones and two fallen cap stones were counted. Three bearing stones were found in the corridor but no remaining cap stones.

The passage graves Ubby 1 (65 m away), Ubby Grønnehøj and Ubby Ræverøgel are nearby.

  1. Those remains of megalithic systems can be identified, the type of construction of which is still recognizable. In Denmark this affects around 500 passage graves.
