The Uelzener Insurance is a German insurance group with headquarters in Uelzen .
Uelzener Versicherungen became known as Uelzener Tierversicherung, as it was the first insurance company to introduce animal health insurance for dogs, cats and horses in Germany.
History of the company
The company was founded in 1873 as "Viehversicherungsbank for the Province of Hanover" and as early as 1903 as "Uelzen Insurance Bank" was approved for business throughout the German Empire . In 1914 she was at the forefront of German animal insurers. With the end of the First World War , the society lost around 50% of its members due to the consequences of the war. In 1969 the general liability and accident insurance business started and in 1977 the move to the new management building. In 1984 the operation of the animal health insurance and in 1986 the associated household insurance was started. In 1990 Uelzener Lebensversicherungs-AG was founded. On January 1, 2013, HanseMerkur Lebensversicherung AG took over all shares in Uelzener Lebensversicherungs AG.

History of Animal Health Insurance
