Ugg boots
Ugg boots or Uggs are mostly boots made of fake lambskin or sheepskin . In the Australian and New Zealand homeland of origin, the outside is usually still made of lamb or kangaroo skin. The term Ugg is commonly used there for this type of boot.
The name UGG is a registered trademark of Deckers Outdoor Corporation , a US company that makes such boots. Most UGG boots have a plastic sole, an inner lining made of fleece and are delivered in different heights from ankle to knee length. The impregnated outside is internationally mostly made of fake suede ( suede ) and not nappa leather .
history
Originally developed in the 1930s, the Uggs were particularly popular with surfers and competitive swimmers in the 1960s and 1970s to warm up their feet after exercising. They came into vogue in the US in the early 2000s and a few years later in Europe.
Word origin
If you follow the entrepreneur's version, the name comes from his wife, who described the shoes as ugly (English: ugly ).
