Karlstein Clock Museum
The clock museum Karlstein is a museum in Karlstein an der Thaya in Lower Austria.
The relatively young museum follows on from the history of the place in the middle of the Horolog Land . It is operated by the regional museum association.
There had been plans for the museum since 2000. But it was only in 2009 that it could be installed in the abandoned gendarmerie post. In addition to the 200 exhibits, clocks are dismantled and repaired in a living museum . Exhibits related to the manufacture and trade of watches are also shown.
Karlstein itself is still a center of the Austrian watch industry today. The HTL Karlstein is the only training facility in Austria in this area.
