The Ulica Kneza Milosa ( Serbian - Cyrillic улица Кнеза Милоша , Knez Miloš Street ' ) is a street in the Serbian capital Belgrade . It is located in the Savski Venac district .

history

The street is named after Prince Miloš Obrenović (1780-1860), who led the Second Serbian Uprising in 1815.

During the bombing of Yugoslavia in the Kosovo war, the Serbian Foreign Ministry and the buildings of the General Staff in Ulica Kneza Miloša were bombed. When the USA recognized Kosovo in 2008, a mob rioted in front of the American embassy in Kneza Miloša and set the building on fire. A new, safer location of the embassy outside the city center should therefore be guaranteed in the future in the Dedinje district.

location

Knez Miloš Street begins at the intersection of Nikola Pašić Square on Bulevar Kralja Aleksandra and Takovska (the extension of which is Knez Milosa). It leads south-east down the Savehang . The first section goes to the junction of the Kralja Milana ; In this it leads along the Pionirski park and past the Hotel Exelcior and crosses the promenade of Andrićev venac and finally the street Krunska .

The next section leads to Nemanjina ulica , at the intersection of which the General Staff building is located. It then leads to the intersection of Bulevar Franše Deperea and Bulevar vojvodna Putnika , where it connects to Mostarska Petlja and Gazela Bridge.

Institutions

On Ulica Kneza Miloša, especially near the intersection with Nemanjina ulica, there are numerous government ministries (e.g. the Serbian Foreign Ministry) as well as the embassies of Germany and Great Britain.
