Ulrich Frank (business IT specialist)

Ulrich Frank (* 1958 ) is a German business informatics specialist and professor for business informatics at the University of Duisburg-Essen .

Life

After studying business administration at the University of Cologne , Frank received his doctorate from the University of Mannheim with a dissertation on the subject of "Expert systems - new automation potential in the office and administration sector" . Frank wrote his habilitation in 1993 at the University of Marburg and after being appointed to the University of Koblenz-Landau in 1994, he took over the chair for business informatics there. In 2004 Frank took over the chair for information systems and business modeling at the University of Duisburg-Essen.

Research areas

The focus of Frank's work is multi-perspective business modeling. Among other things, Frank developed the (meta) method Multi-Perspective Enterprise Modeling (MEMO), which propagates a scientific examination of the demands on modeling languages ​​and methods and offers added value in the discussion of integrative modeling across functional areas of companies.

Ulrich Frank is the founder and first chief editor of the open access journal Enterprise Modeling and Information Systems Architectures - An International Journal (EMISA).
