Ulrike Schrader (* 1960 in Vechta ) is a German literary scholar . She is the director of the "Old Synagogue" meeting place in Wuppertal .

Life

Schrader completed an apprenticeship as a bookseller and then studied German literature, general literature and Protestant theology at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal , where she received her doctorate in 1991 with a thesis on the reception of the figure of Job in German literature. In 1994 she took over the management of the Wuppertal meeting place “Old Synagogue”. She has published several books, mainly about Jewish life and culture in Wuppertal and the Bergisches Land .

Ulrike Schrader is a lecturer for history and its didactics at the Bergische Universität. In 2010 she received the Golden Menorah from the Jewish Community of Wuppertal. In 2011 she received the award of the Wuppertal City Association of Citizens and District Associations "Golden Suspension Railway".

Ulrike Schrader is married.
