Ultraman - My Secret Identity (Original Title: My Secret Identity ) is a Canadian sitcom with science fiction elements, which was filmed from 1988 to 1991.

action

The series revolves around 14-year-old Andrew Clements, who one day accidentally gets hit by a photon beam that his best friend Dr. Benjamin Marion Jeffcoat had caused. At first, Andrew just feels slightly lightheaded and just goes home. There he quickly notices that he has developed super powers through the beam. Andrew, himself an ardent fan of superheroes of all kinds, is absolutely thrilled and wants to make the whole thing public. Dr. Jeffcoat, always trying to avoid paying attention, convinces him to keep his skills a secret.

As a rule, the individual episodes are structured in such a way that a problem arises after a quiet initial phase, which Andrew, with the help of his powers, solves at the end. With regard to the young target group, attention was paid to an educational effect in the design of the storylines (for example by raising awareness of crime).

The storylines are built into a youthful environment with the typical problem areas there (lovesickness, pressure to perform, bullying, etc.).

Powers

In total, Andrew has the following four powers:

  • Superhuman speed: He can move at almost any speed without even getting out of breath.
  • Invulnerability: Ammunition fired at him ricochets. A disadvantage of this ability is that intentional injuries (e.g. during a vaccination ) are not possible.
  • Flying: Initially this ability is introduced as weightlessness, which is why he always has spray cans with him to control. After being hit a second time by the photon beam in the fourth episode of the second season, he can control his flight without aids.
  • Superhuman Strength: The second photon exposure also makes Andrew the strongest person in the world.

The forces are permanent. They only disappear briefly after exposure to X-rays .

Characters

Andrew Clements
Main character
Dr. Benjamin Marion Jeffcoat
Best friend of Andrew and one of the ten smartest people in the world, which is mentioned several times as a running gag in the series. Jeffcoat is a scientist and inventor by profession. Furthermore, he takes on the role of a surrogate father for Andrew, because he grows up without his real father.
Stephanie Clements
Mother of Andrew. Between her and Dr. Jeffcoat always hint at romances. But they do not find each other permanently.
Erin Clements
Younger sister of Andrew. There is a healthy sibling rivalry between the two.
Kirk Stevens
Introduced as a chance acquaintance in season two, he becomes a close friend of Andrew in season three.
Ruth Schellenbach
Quirky neighbor of Dr. Jeffcoat. The two get into arguments with each other again and again, which is never really meant seriously.
