Umgemeerung
A re- municipality is the change of the affiliation of an area from one municipality to another.
In contrast to the incorporation , in which a municipality with its entire area is absorbed into another municipality, the municipalities involved remain in the case of re-municipality; only part of the municipality changes its affiliation.
Such area changes can be made in the Federal Republic of Germany, depending on the municipal code or local constitution of the state, through an area change agreement between the municipalities, by law or by decision of the state's interior ministry.
