The Umitaka Bank ( English ; also known as Umitaka Seamount ) is a bank in the Antarctic Somow Sea . It is off the Pennell coast of Victoria Land .

The name, which has been recognized by the US Advisory Committee for Undersea Features (ACUF) since 1980, is named after the Japanese research vessel Umitaka Maru , which carried out depth soundings in this area between 1964 and 1965 .
