Clearance certificate (studies)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A clearance certificate is a confirmation that is required when changing university, if the new course is related or identical to the previous course (e.g. change from study of biology to study of bionics ).

With the certificate, the previous examination office confirms that the applicant has not lost his entitlement to the examination. The clearance certificate also confirms that neither module nor subject examinations were finally failed in the previous course. This gives the new examination office the formal security that the new person to be enrolled will be able to take all the necessary examinations.

Clearance certificates should be applied for as early as possible when changing studies, as the issue may take some time. In many cases, the clearance certificate is only requested with other documents such as the de-registration certificate from the previous university and evidence of previous achievements.
