Uncus ( Latin for 'hook') means the hook-shaped front end of the parahippocampal gyrus or its continuation , which is visible on the surface of the temporal lobe . The gap between the posterior end of the uncus and the underlying parahippocampal gyrus is called the uncus sulcus .
