Ung Pirat ( Swedish ; "Young Pirate") is the youth association of the Swedish Pirate Party and the largest political youth association in Sweden . The association was founded in December 2006 and works closely with the Pirate Party. More than half of the members of the Swedish Pirate Party are also Ung Pirat members. This is mainly due to the fact that young members of the Pirate Party automatically become members of the youth organization. Membership in Ung Pirat is free of charge.
The most important topics of the Young Pirates are free knowledge , the sharing of cultural assets and a protected private sphere . The association also participates in the activities of the Pirate Party and its organization.
As of April 17, 2009 Young Pirate was, by its own account, before the youth organization of the Moderate Party is the largest political youth organization in Sweden. In the following years there was a steady decline in membership, so that Ung Pirat October 2011 is only the sixth largest political youth association in Sweden. In 2013 the number of members grew again, so that in August 2013 the Ung Pirat were again the second largest youth association in Sweden. In the following years, however, the continuous decline in membership continued.

Board
The current board of the Young Pirates was elected at the congress on March 27, 2009 and consists of a chairman, a general secretary and seven full members and three deputies.
The chairman is Gustav Nipe and the post of general secretary is occupied by Mikael Holm.
