The Unió de Pagesos de Catalunya (UP) (Catalan: pagesos - German: farmers) is the largest farmers' association in the Catalan- speaking area. It has represented the interests of agriculture in the region since 1974 and is considered one of the most influential organizations in the country. Historically, the Unió de Pagesos is politically closely linked to the Spanish people 's parties .
The association is divided into professional organizations and professional associations from the field of animal production, crop production and other cooperative associations from other areas of agriculture. The headquarters of the Unió de Pagesos is in Barcelona , it has 40 offices in Catalonia and three independent organizations for the Balearic Islands .
The association defines itself as a professional, national, democratic, unified, independent and progressive organization with the following main tasks and goals: offering various services for farmers, maintaining family farms, adequate income for farmers, influencing the legal framework, meaningful use of the Soil, production of quality products using transparent production processes and designations of origin , protection of cultivated land and conservation of nature.
