Unión Cívica (Uruguay)

Unión Cívica is a party in Uruguay .

The Christian Democrat- conservative political grouping is the successor to the Unión Radical Cristiana , which was founded in 1971 by dissidents of the Partido Demócrata Cristiano . The latter had decided to join the party alliance Frente Amplio . After the restoration of parliamentary democracy in Uruguay, the party appointed Juan Vicente Chiarino as defense minister in 1985 . The party leader is Aldo Lamorte .

In the 2004 presidential elections, her candidate Aldo Lamorte received 4,859 votes and, with a share of 0.22% of the votes, ranked sixth among the participating parties. For the 2009 elections, the party announced on August 19, 2008 the formation of an electoral alliance with the Alianza Nacional , a wing of the Partido Nacional .
