Uniform Code Council

The Uniform Code Council (UCC) was one of the world's most influential organizations specializing in globalization and standardization and is now known as GS1 .

The non-profit member organization of EAN International is based in Lawrenceville in the US state of New Jersey .

For example, the UCC developed the Universal Product Code (UPC) barcode .

history

In the early 1970s, the US food industry established the Uniform Grocery Product Code Council to design a uniform barcode , it was renamed the Uniform Product Code Council and the UCC emerged in 1984.

In 2005 the UCC was renamed GS1 .
