Union des éditeurs européens de contenus numériques

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Union des éditeurs européens de contenus numériques (UECN) is an association of European publishers of electronic content based in France. Its members are medium-sized companies from the video games , film and music industries . All companies are active on the French market.

The association is intended to enable the members to exchange experiences and to represent their common interests publicly and vis-à-vis French institutions and authorities.

Copyright protection on the Internet: the HADOPI process

Above all, the association has made it its business to protect its members from unauthorized copying of their products. Various judicial and extrajudicial measures are taken for this purpose. One focus is the new French HADOPI process.

The HADOPI procedure for combating copyright infringements on the Internet - particularly through file sharing - is a so-called three-strike procedure. The infringer is initially warned and, if repeated, prosecuted. The sanctions provide for fines and the possibility of temporarily blocking Internet access.

At the European level, the Gallo report was adopted on September 22, 2010, which also advocates a three-strike procedure. The procedure is intended to strike a balance between the interests of internet users and copyright protection by striking a balance between a lack of prosecution of copyright infringements and strict criminal penalties.
