Union for the Development of the Comoros

The Union for the Development of the Comoros ( French : Union pour le Développement des Comores) is one of the larger parties in the Comoros . Mohamed Halifa is the party's president.

history

The party was formed in 2013 from the merger of political organizations that support President Ikililou Dhoinine . Before the party got its current name, it was called "Rally for Democracy in the Comoros" (French: Rassemblement pour la Démocratie aux Comoros) .

In the 2015 parliamentary elections, the UPDC was the strongest party with 29% and won 8 of the 24 directly elected seats after the first and second ballots.
