Ikililou Dhoinine (born August 14, 1962 in Djoiezi on the Comoros island of Mohéli ) is a Comorian politician. He was President of the Comoros from May 26, 2011 to May 25, 2016.

Life

Dhoinine grew up on the island of Mohéli. He attended elementary school in his native Djoiezi and the island's capital Fomboni , then the Collège Rural and the grammar school in Fomboni. After graduating from high school in 1986, he studied for a year at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of the École nationale d'Enseignement Supérieur (ÉNES) in Mvouni . A scholarship enabled him to study pharmacy at Gamal Abdel Nasser University in Conakry , Guinea , which he completed in 1994 with a doctorate in pharmacy. After his return to the Comoros he worked as a pharmacist for the Pharmacie Nationale Autonome Des Comores . As regional director, he led a World Bank health project .

politics

From 2006 to 2011 he was Vice President in the government of Ahmed Abdallah Mohamed Sambi , until 2008 he headed the Ministry of Health, from 2009 to 2010 the Ministry of Finance and from 2010 he was responsible for infrastructure, urban planning and the environment. He emerged victorious from the 2010 presidential election . From May 26, 2011, he was President of the Comoros for five years until he was replaced by Azali Assoumani following the election victory .
