United Nationalist Party (Ghana)

The United Nationalist Party ( UNP ) was a political party in Ghana during the Second Republic between 1969 and 1972.

The UNP was popularly known as "Abaaba Lake".

history

Well-known founders of the UNP were Joseph Joe Appiah , Peter Ala Adjetey and Ato Kwashie , who wanted to oppose an important political power to the then government under Kofi Abrefa Busia by founding the party .

In the elections of August 29, 1969 for the National Assembly ( National Assembly ), the UNP, chaired by Imoru Ayarna, received about 3.8 percent of the vote and two of the 140 seats in the National Assembly.
