The United Nations Foundation is an independent foundation that aims to promote the goals of the United Nations through its work .

It was founded in 1998 when Ted Turner donated $ 1 billion as endowment capital to support the UN, its ideals and activities. The foundation establishes and promotes public-private partnerships that address the world's pressing problems. The UN Foundation is a non-profit organization.
