United Nations Yemen Observation Mission (UNYOM) was a United Nations mission in Yemen based on UN Security Council Resolution 179 .

As in 1962 in Yemen , a civil war broke out, the United Nations sent the UNYOM to an expansion of the conflict to prevent an international level. Nonetheless, Egypt and Saudi Arabia entered the war in 1963 , and UNYOM was now tasked with monitoring these states and ensuring that there was no overwhelming power that could have led to a major conflict in this part of the Middle East .

When the civil war ended in 1964, UNYOM stayed in the country overseeing the situation and the withdrawal from Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
