Founded in 1902, Unity High School is an independent school in Khartoum , Sudan .
It is located around 700 meters north of the Khartoum train station.
The language of instruction and the type of training is English and is aimed at students of all social and ethnic backgrounds. Originally the school was only for girls. Boys were only admitted in 1985. In 2005 about 750 new students enrolled. The age of the students currently varies between 4 and 18 years.
On November 25, 2007, the school attracted international attention when a teacher at the school, Gillian Gibbons, named a teddy bear that serves as a class mascot "Mohammed". She was charged with blasphemy and punished heavily. She was threatened with whipping and jail time. On November 29, 2007, she was sentenced to a "mild" sentence of 15 days in prison.
