The Universidad Autónoma de Zacatecas (UAZ) is a public university in the Mexican state of Zacatecas . It is named after the politician Francisco García Salinas . The institution is organized in 28 teaching units and has its own museums.

history

The history of the university goes back to 1832 when the Instituto Literario de García was founded, from which the Instituto Científico y Literario de Zacatecas emerged in 1885 . During the revolution , the institution became the Colegio del Estado and then in 1920 the Instituto de Ciencias de Zacatecas . On October 10, 1959, the educational institution received the status of an autonomous university and was from then on initially called Instituto de Ciencias Autónomo de Zacatecas . The university has had its current name since September 6, 1968.

Sports

The soccer team of the university sports club, founded in 2006, plays in the Tercera División de México (3rd division).
