The University of Lagos (also known as Unilag ) is a state university in the Nigerian primate city of Lagos .

The university was founded in 1962. The university has a total of 57,183 students, including 32,443 full-time students and 24,740 part-time students. 14,093 part-time students take part in distance learning (Distance LearningInstitute, DLI) (2012/13). There are 146 professors among the 1,123 academic staff, plus 2,622 non-academic staff (2012/13). Unilag is one of the largest universities in Nigeria and is sponsored by the state.
