Field chapel of Our Lady in Pfaffenhausen

Our Lady is a Roman Catholic field chapel in Pfaffenhausen in Upper Swabia . It has two different wall thicknesses, which suggests two different construction times. The older part is likely to have been made at the end of the 17th or beginning of the 18th century. The older part consists of the nave vault, the west wall and the choir arch with the half columns. The side walls in the nave may originally have had open arcades and were probably added at the end of the 18th century, as was the flat, arched apse and the hipped roof .

The chapel is located in the south of the village on the road to Heinzenhof . It is a rectangular building with rounded east corners and a flat arched apse. The eaves cornice in the western part is bevelled and in the younger eastern part it is ribbon-shaped. In the west there is an arched door. There are two arched windows in each of the long walls. Inside the apse is flat. The choir arch has solid half columns and a stilted, arched end. There is a groin vault in the anteroom .

The altar dates from the middle of the 19th century and is made of wood. In a round arch niche there is a mounted figure of the Virgin Mary from the second half of the 17th century. On either side of the figure there is a pilaster and an inclined, staggered column. On the curved extension there are two seated angels from the second half of the 17th century. There are also two statuettes of evangelists , which were created at the beginning of the 18th century, in the church. The small altar cross dates from the middle of the 19th century.
