Corn seed drill with underfoot fertilizer

Under-root fertilization refers to the application of fertilizers below the sowing horizon at the same time as drilling .

In Germany, the process is used as standard, especially for maize . In the early stages of development, maize has a poor ability to acquire phosphate , especially when it is cold . To avoid salt damage from the fertilizer, the fertilizer belt must be placed 5 cm below the seed and ideally 5 cm to the side of the seed row .
