Educational software

Under educational software refers to software specifically for the classroom was designed.

The term widely used in German-language media didactics is therefore more narrowly defined than the term educational software , which does not have to be specially tailored to learning or teaching purposes, and only partially overlaps with the term learning software , which is also used for learning purposes, but not necessarily for the (school) instruction is intended. While learning software (e.g. digital tutorials or vocabulary trainers) are independent learning aids that convey certain learning content to the student without the direct involvement of the teacher, teaching software can also include handouts for conventional teaching, e.g. in the form of digitally saved collections of teaching materials (Worksheets, tasks, graphics). Software for evaluating student performance ( e-assessment ) and quiz-based programs such as Antolin and Schlaukopf.de are examples of teaching software . In addition, there is teaching software that aims to bring theoretical teaching content to a practical level.

Stefan Leufen differentiated the following types of teaching software:

Since the term does not designate a certain type of software with uniform characteristics, but a specific way of using software, other media didactics - such as Dieter Euler or Sabine Seufert - have preferred to use different forms of their classification systems rather than different types of teaching software of computer-aided teaching .
