Urs Viktor Oberlin
Urs Viktor Oberlin (born September 5, 1747 in Solothurn ; † November 6, 1818 there ) was a Swiss politician.
Oberlin was a member of the Solothurn government until 1798 . In order to tactically meet the bourgeois pressure for political co-determination since the French Revolution, the patriciate , who had previously ruled oligarchically , had accepted a few bourgeois representatives into the government. After the overthrow of the old order through the entry of French troops, Oberlin was elected to the first directory (central government) of the Helvetic Republic based in Aarau on April 18, 1798 with the support of the republicans . Twice, in June 1798 and December 1798, he presided over the board of directors. As a result of the first coup, he lost his post on January 7, 1799.
