Urzeitmuseum Nussdorf ob der Traisen
The prehistoric museum Nussdorf ob der Traisen is located on the market square in the market town of Nussdorf ob der Traisen in the St. Pölten-Land district in Lower Austria . The museum is located in the structural remains of the former Nussdorf Castle above the Traisen.
building
The Nussdorf Castle above the Traisen was demolished in 1860/1864.
A large cellar building under a gable roof from the 19th century in romantic-historicizing forms has been preserved. On the north side there is an eleven-axis sequence of buttresses sloping in the lower area and above dazzling battlements. Inside there is a large main cellar with a high vaulted concrete barrel and lance caps on one side.
Primeval Museum
In 1993, a prehistoric museum was opened in the attic, which has been expanded since 1993. It shows the rich finds from excavations by the Federal Monuments Office in the Lower Traisental .
