Ute Hüsken

Ute Hüsken (* 1965 in Wuppertal ) is a German Indologist .

Life

She studied Indology, Tibetology , Burmese Studies , Sociology and Ethnology at the University of Göttingen , where she worked as a research assistant and university assistant. In 2003 she completed her habilitation at the University of Heidelberg on the subject of rituals of passage in the southern Indian Viṣṇuitischen Vaikhānasa tradition . From 2003 to 2008 she worked as a project manager at the Collaborative Research Center 619 Ritual Dynamics at Heidelberg University. From 2007 to 2017 she taught as a professor in the South Asian Studies section at the Department of Culture Studies and Oriental Languages ​​at the University of Oslo . Since 2017 she has been a full professor at the South Asia Institute of the Ruprecht-Karls University in Heidelberg and head of the Department of Cultural and Religious History of South Asia.
