history

In 1912, FC Zurich set up its own football pitch on the corner of Albisriederstrasse and Dennlerstrasse, which was named Utogrund . The square received a small grandstand, staggered seats, a wooden fence and a 100 m cinder track. On June 27, 1920, an international match between Switzerland and Germany took place in Utogrund , which Switzerland won 4-1. In 1925, FC Zurich sold the Utogrund and moved to its new stadium in Letzigrund .

Today, the teams from Rugby Union Zurich and the American footballers from the Zurich Renegades play in the Utogrund again and again. The first international rugby match in Zurich took place there in 2016 with the match between Switzerland and Malta.
