research

The site was examined during excavations carried out by the international archaeological expedition Azerbaijan - France in 2015. Vali Bakhshaliyev and Catherine Marro were the leaders of the expedition. During the investigation it was found that the bedrock of the site was covered with an approximately 2 m thick layer of sediment. The site near the village of Uzun oba in the Babek region has been investigated solely by exploratory excavation. The stratigraphic cut from 2 to 5 m deep was preserved during the excavation on the eastern slope of the site at 2 m high. During the excavation, painted ceramic pieces from the first millennium BC came to light. Such ancient finds are very rare for the region.
